The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has inaugurated an Experience Centre at its integrated complex in Dwarka, New Delhi, offering students an interactive approach to learning beyond traditional textbooks. Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the facility on 27th October 2026, highlighting the need to develop curiosity, creativity and practical understanding among learners.
Spread across 6,000 square feet, the centre features 12 zones and 21 exhibits that introduce students to India's educational history, emerging technologies, scientific concepts and future career opportunities. The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises experiential and holistic learning.
The centre includes interactive exhibits such as ‘Career Explorer’, ‘Future of Professions’ and ‘Magic Mirror: Future You’, helping students explore career options and understand how employment opportunities may evolve. Visitors can also experience holographic interactions with Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Key features of the CBSE Experience Centre:
- Interactive learning: RFID-enabled smart cards allow visitors to engage with exhibits, participate in activities, and access personalised takeaways
- Career exploration: Dedicated exhibits introduce learners to potential professions and changing workforce requirements
- Scientific discovery: A geological timeline and the multisensory ‘Eduverse’ experience encourage exploration of the natural world
- Innovation initiatives: The government plans to establish 50,000 additional Atal Tinkering Labs, building on the 10,000 already operational
Joshi stressed that schools should move beyond rote learning and an excessive focus on examination scores. He emphasised that students need opportunities to observe, experiment and apply concepts through real-life experiences. He also highlighted the importance of preparing young people for changing demands in technology, manufacturing and innovation.
For school leaders and education providers, the centre offers an example of how practical activities and interactive resources can complement classroom teaching. EducationToday and TopEducationNews highlight developments such as these to keep the education community informed about changing teaching approaches, student engagement and future-ready education.
The initiative reinforces the growing importance of experiential learning in helping students build confidence, think independently, and connect classroom knowledge with the world around them.
