Karnataka has introduced Artificial Intelligence as a vocational subject for students of Classes 9th and 10th under the National Skills Qualifications Framework. The subject will be offered in selected government schools from the 2026-27 academic year.
A total of 1,642 government high schools will implement the programme. The initiative is designed to introduce students to problem-solving, critical thinking, technical knowledge and employability-related skills. Schools will appoint guest teachers to conduct the AI classes.
