India’s examination system is increasingly adopting digital infrastructure to simplify registration and improve access to public services. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced the MeriPehchaan single sign-on facility for JEE Main 2027 registration, marking another step towards technology-enabled examination administration. Developed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), MeriPehchaan provides a common login facility through integrated identity service providers, including DigiLocker, JanParichay and e-Pramaan. The initiative is intended to streamline authentication and make the online application process more convenient for candidates.
How the New Facility Works
Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2027 Session 1 can use the MeriPehchaan platform to access the registration process. Applicants should follow the official portal’s instructions and complete the required identity verification before proceeding with their applications.
The key steps include:
- Create an account: Visit the official MeriPehchaan portal and select ‘Register Now’ if you are a new user
- Choose an identity provider: Select from the available options, including DigiLocker, JanParichay and e-Pramaan
- Complete verification: Enter the required personal details and follow the applicable identity verification procedure
- Continue registration: Return to the official JEE Main website and complete the remaining application formalities, including uploading the required information and paying the examination fee
Candidates must submit their Session 1 applications by 22nd November 2026. Applications with a late fee will be accepted from 23rd to 26th November, while the correction window is scheduled for 27th to 29th November 2026.
What It Means for the Education Industry
The introduction of a unified login facility reflects the growing importance of digital identity verification in education. For schools, coaching centres and higher education institutions, such changes highlight the need to strengthen digital literacy and provide students with accurate guidance on online application procedures.
A streamlined registration process can reduce authentication-related difficulties, although candidates must still ensure that their personal information is accurate and that they meet all prescribed requirements.
